Name: Arynn Cuthalion “Greyclaw”

Class: Veledain Druid

Appearance: At 5’9’’ tall, Arynn’s body is honed from a youth spent in the dense forests of his people, with the kind of broad shoulders that are rarely seen among the Veledain. Arynn’s face is sharp and marked by the characteristics of his people, tapered ears, and the bright, almost glowing eyes that change color with the seasons. He carries his dark hair short and unkempt, and his bronze skin is covered in the ornate and sometimes magical tattoos that are custom among the druids to wear. Those include serpents and vines on his arms and torso, on his right upper arm to indicate his tribe, and the three diagonal lines on his left cheek that denote his rank as the next Archdruid of his people. Arynn wears a simple leather vest, and a long war kilt, also a symbol of his status among his people.

Fighting Style: As a druid of the Veledain the Wild Goddess has gifted him with the ability to change his physical shape at will into the beasts of the world. In these forms he is granted all their characteristics from speed, strength, and durability; all while maintaining his conscious and logical thought. The transformation is an instant magical change, but expends are large amount of energy. On an average day Arynn can transform and unshift around 3 times, depending on his physical state. Maintaining the form requires little energy, and any wounds inflicted upon him are retained while changing form. When he is unable to change forms, Arynn can use his quarter staff or bear claw and is well versed in their use. With his people’s natural agility and hardiness, his small stature means little and can be known to subdue even the largest opponents in hand to hand combat.

Abilities/Skills: Beyond the ability to assume animal forms, he is quite knowledgeable in the various plants and animals of the world and is even capable of a certain degree of communication with them. This is not necessarily a way to speak to them, but more of a trading of memories. This also allows Arynn to have minimal control over animals and certain plants. As a druid he is also capable of a small degree of elemental magic, and divination through certain rituals.

Items/Artifacts: The only items of consequence that Arynn carries are his staff, and his bear claws. The claws were obtained from a great bear that lived too near a ley line, resulting in his mutation to something unnatural. Arynn had to put the bear down, and kept his claws because they were extraordinarily strong. The greyclaws are Arynn’s namesake and now rest as part of a glove on Arynn’s left hand. The staff itself is his most precious possession. Every Archdruid must go on a pilgrimage to the very center of the Veledar forest where a great World Tree resides. Upon reaching the tree, Arynn had to ritually ask for the tree’s acceptance, and the sign of that acceptance is receiving a staff from one of the tree’s great branches. The Veledain Staff is a wonderfully magical item that has strong physical properties and aids in the druidic transformations.

History: Born with the glowing eyes of the druid and son of the current Archdruid of his tribe, Arynn Cuthalion has had heavy expectations from him his entire life. He was raised solely by his father, Narayan, since his mother died giving birth to him. This was contrary to normal rules of Veledain society where child raising is usually a task that the whole community shares in, but Narayan holds great hope for his son and keeps him close by at all times.
During his childhood his father spent much of his time training his young son. Normally, the Archdruid of a village does not take students, but Arynn’s natural grasp for the druidic arts persuaded Narayan to break tradition. His childhood was spent in his father’s Grove, constantly learning and training in the druidic arts and only entering the village as his father’s silent companion when the village required his attention. Arynn’s seclusion caused more then a few of the villagers to look upon him with suspicion and a little bit of fear. However, it was apparent that Narayan’s private tutoring of his son paid off, for Arynn journeyed and received the blessing of the World Tree at the very young age of thirteen. Upon returning with the Veledain Staff in hand, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Arynn would someday follow in his father’s footsteps and become the next Archdruid for his tribe.
When Arynn reached twenty years of age a strange sickness began to spread among the Veledain. Many of Arynn’s tribe became afflicted by the disease that causes fever, joint and muscle pains, then sever lethargy that eventually leads to organ failure and death. No natural or magical treatments have had any effect in curing or even stalling the ailment. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before Narayan started showing the symptoms of the disease. Eventually he became bed-ridden and Arynn had to start attending to his duties. Included was to go in his place when the Archdruid Council called a gathering to discuss on what should be done. It was decided that one among them would go outside the forest and seek out a way to end the plague that has befallen them. Arynn being young and of great skill volunteered for the journey, and it was unanimously agreed he was well suited. And for the first time in hundreds of years one of the Veledain traveled beyond the border of their forest…

Point of Order? Can only turn into non-magical creatures perhaps? It might be a bit...unfair to suddenly have to fight a dragon.

I wouldn't like to rule out magical creatures completely. But the transformations are based off his experience as a druid, he is still pretty young at this stage, so normal creatures are the majority of what he can pull off. Turning into a dragon would take more then a lifetime of experience and we can say something like that is pretty much not a worry.

Seems very good, although it seems like he's mostly aligned to the element of Life, and druids simply practice it and expand upon it... This could be used as a basis for a lot of what I'm looking for in reforming the false element of Life.

As for the character, he also seems very good, although history will be needed to posted ASAP. What are the certain beasts of the wilds he knows of/can transform into?

I really like the character (heart druids), and it's quite well described too. I didn't see anything wrong with the shapeshifting stuff (I sincerely doubt he'll transform into anything that unfair BI).

I'm working on the history now, since his character is done I will work much faster now.

At this time, the largest creature he can turn into is a large bear, some of his other more common transformations include big cats, wolves, various raptors, and vipers. At this stage I don't plan on him having anything massive in size or power. I think he will be able to stand on his own as he is.

You may need to specify or allude to his rate of change, so we know whether it's instant or a ritual or what. I know it's not a ritual, but that would be on the far end.

A 'Darth' bear perhaps?

I mean his bio says that he can transform into any animal of the world as long as he has enough experience in this. What are those beasts by now? (Wolf, Bear, Snake, Rabbit, Hawk...?)

History before approval. Everything does seem to be in order... but seriously, it's an INSTANT shift? As in in the blink of an eye, he becomes an animal?

Would I be correct in saying it takes about as long as the night elf in the World of Warcraft introduction movie where she leaps into the air and by the time she hit the ground she was a panther?
