Opportunity With TFGoRP

Some of my rp friends on WC3 help run and are active members of the website www.tfgorp.rahost.org. I talked to the head of the website, and was discussing possible terms for them joining us. I discovered that hey have a larger memberbase and more activity than us, unfortunately. Therefore, the head of the site wanted to negotiate us joining with them under the terms:

The RoKK Council gets 100% ownership over it's own area. We can choose to hide it or keep it open to the public, and no one can mess with us, but we'd be literally next to a very active community.

All content can be moved over as-is into the new section of their site, as well as memberdata and anything else.



I tried discussing affiliation, but unfortunately the head of the site will not affiliate with smaller communities.

The downside of this opportunity is that... We don't have RoKK.darkbb.com any more. The head of the site will have ultimate control over everything because he owns the site, like Mr.Apples owned Gamerisle.com and Panther owns Gamerisle.org.

I'm posting this here because it isn't just a Council issue, it's a community issue. I for one will NOT forsake this community, nor this project, nor anything else for any degree of anything. I have firmly believed that the community is worth more than anything else. If this is against the community's wishes, then so be it, we will not merge. If the community wishes this change, then we will look into acquiring them.

I'm against this, on multiple levels, mostly I don't like the idea of sacrificing our independence for a remote possibility of gaining more members.

The fact of the matter is, no matter how much control we have over the board itself, its still just a board, and any way you cut it, its a sizable step back from where we are now.

I wanted to move the arena out of Gamerisle, because I wanted to expand BEYOND a sub board.

hoo boy… This one is tough. Do we stay here and be guaranteed to have absolute control over what we make or do we head over there , run the risk of losing control but also gain the chance of new members? It's a tough call but in the end I would suggest we move over there. As much as I hate to admit it, we're not thriving here, if anything, we're shrinking. We seem to have lost Crom and Xootie. Doom who used to be a regular hardly shows up anymore, Imarahil got bored of this site before he could even finish his character. Age showed up a while ago but seems to have wandered off again. Heph hasn't even posted once. Yes we finally got the event started, and yeah we've come a long way in the development of RoKK as a world but lets face it, more important than any of that is a strong community. As it is we've got three lurkers, two people who show up regularly, one sporadically and one very sporadically. If we continue this way we're going to drift off in ones and twos until this place dies. I think we might need to sacrifice something for better growth. On the bright side, if it doesn't work theres nothing to stop us coming back here later. Oh and if we DO go through with this, make it publicly viewable.

My "we will regret is later" senses are tingling! Sure it sounds like a cool opportunity right now, but if any smallest issues will arise at the new site the owner can as well delete us and spit in our face leaving us in the void of nothingless. This is of course just the WORST ending that may occur, and i dont say that it will happen, but may. I for my part just dont want to be the prick who keeps the community smaller nor the guy who voted for the destruction of our freedom. Im neutral in this, do what you think is right.

Meh, I say we make the switch. Worst case? we don't like how they do things, pack up, and leave, possibly with more members. Best case? we get a "sexsplosion" of new activity, possibly drawing in even MORE people from the abyss that is the internet.

Here's some facts about their community:

I have some leverage with a lot of the prominent members of their community, and I can -EASILY- gain leverage with anyone I don't already have relations with. That's not saying how easy it would be to impress their community either. They have some good rpers, and some average ones, but I've seen talent here that is above and beyond what they offer.

I know the head of their site pretty well, nothing past a basic friendship, but we share mutual respect with one another, and I've helped him a few times. The rest of his staff, however, is unknown to me.

Three people say yes, for good reason, and two say no, for good reason.

If we do move, we don't need to pack up EVERYTHING and move onto the site. We can keep backups here for a worst case scenario, and I believe most of the world creation of RoKK itself will be done using this site, so there will -ALWAYS- be a refuge if the worst occurs.


So... I think here's the plan:

Once they move to a more permanent area within the week, I'll check on how active they really are. If they are what we're looking for, then we go for it. If not, then we won't, because we won't really benefit, or we try to move them here.

To those that say no, if the rest of the community says yes, please tell me everything you have a problem with and I'll try to get everything to a state where you don't need to be worried about the possible problems.

As for MN, I understand your point, but what's to say we don't just leave later once everything's developed to host it on our site once it's big enough and ready for launch?

This may sound like a lot of propaganda against them, but it's all very realistic given the supposed situations.

Hello every one. I mange The Final Gathering of Role Players. I understand why some of you disagree with this idea because i have seen many forums come and go. That is why i decided to make The Final Gathering of Role Players to help Role Players in need of a great site and RP. and to stop seeing the death of many RP sites and so forth. And just to make a few things clear that ChaosWizkid did not make. I do not hold absolute power. I did start the site but its a circle of power which im offering you guys to join. So in reality you have the same chance to hurt as as much as we can hurt you so we will be in equal footing. I hope to see you all

Lets get one thing straight, if we do this, and it looks increasingly likely that we will. I won't like it, I'll never like it, I'll make an ass out of myself whenever the chance presents itself, and I will continue to do so for the rest of eternity, or however long we actually remain on said site, although it looks like the former not the latter at this point. Just a friendly heads up.

I'm going to assume Aerywyn's is a yes since he seems to lean that way.
If we assume BOTH Doom and Age vote against hen we have 3 votes against and 5 for.
Unless you want a unanimous vote (which you won't get cause MN, isn't about to be talked down) I think thats pretty good.

Now then to stop chronic laziness that plagues us so I suggest we set a hard & fast date, preferably soon.

I already built your section. So its already for moving the only thing is i have to apologize for the theme. We had this godly theme that represented our site perfectly But it had errors so it had to go. So now we are looking for new themes and in the mean time theres some black theme up.
