Name: Ashatair
Title: Soulcatcher
Class:
Blade Lord
Appearance:
The Soulcatcher while not giant is a large man of six foot eight. His is on the thin side but he hasn’t a single inch of fat on his aged body. Though the Professor profits from the longer lived age gifted to him by his elven blood he has capped a century and half and his close cut hair and tightly trimmed beard is now a dark gray. Clad in the battle robes of a Pandaren Samurai his armor has been altered to a more imperial style of with thick boots, long hood and heavier mail. His eyes could have been chiseled from ice rocks and it constrasts greatly with his pale skin.
Fighting Style:
The Soulcatcher depends on controlled viper fast thrusts and slashes to build up a rythm of attack. Though killing blows deliver the greatest amount of life threads even the tiniest prick from his blade can fuel the Soul Banes power and it is on this power that Ashatair has become to rely on. Discipine is the Soulcatcher main weapon and he will never run blindly into battle. Instead he works steadily and calmly without wasting a single step or breath in combat. Speed is his greatest weapon and patience his best friend. Wearing down the enemy a single blow at a time is the preffered method of dispatchment for Ashatair though he is always willing to end a fight quickly if he must.
Weapon: Soul Bane
Skills:
Life Steal: Every blow delivered by the Soul Bane steals a bit of the enemies’ life source and adds it the Soul Catcher's overall physical prowess.
Swordmaster: The Professor has fought and lived by the sword for over a century and thus can easily claim the title of a Swordmaster.
Silent but Deadly: The Professor has mastered the cat like grace of a warrior and can easily sneak up and attack opponents.
Soul Cleavers: The Professor can unleash three burning discs from his blade that can slice through even magical protection though he sacrifices drained life energy to do so.
Soul Nova: By unleashing a great number of life energy gathered the Professor unleashes a powerful blast of energy capable of completely smearing an enemy from the face of the earth if they do not bear powerful protection.
Soul Protection: Soul Bane’s prime targets are swordsman but they would have little future in his hands if they were wiped out by a marauding sorcerer especially one who might see the Soul Bane for what it is and lock it away forever thus Soul Bane cordons some of its power away in order to deflect and absorb magic. Unfortunetly this requires the use of life strands and must be summoned by the bearer of the blade thus still leaving the Soulcatcher noticebly open to devasting ranged ambushes or magic and ranged attacks in general.
Strengths: The Soulcatcher is fast, swift and deadly. His skill in the the longblade is considerable and his ability to make himself stronger for every damaging blow to his enemies allows him to create a deadly rythm that if not defended against can leave the enemy nothing but a decapitated corpse with the Soulcatcher strong then ever.
Weaknesses: The Soulcatcher is a swordsman above all else and that means he must get close to his enemy quickly before he can be worn down. Though his agility is great one can only go about dodging projectiles for so long before one makes a fatal mistake. While the Soul Bane is the source of Ashatair's power it is also a source of weakness and while even the smallest of pricks may draw life threads if the enemy is capable of keeping Ashatair at bay for too long he will be no more then an exceptional swordsman and the Soulcatcher no longer.
Background:
A veteran instructor of war this bastard half-breed of man and elf traveled the world for decades teaching and leading swordsman while perfecting his own prowess. However a half-elf can only grow so powerful and after slaying the dragon Galruch he received the Soul Bane. This ancient blade draws from the strength of the Reaper and for every blow the Soulcatcher lands he grows stronger. Though most men were driven insane by this power thus ending up in Galruch’s treasure horde Ashatair's pure mental discipline has allowed him to master the blade and even communicate with it. Thus a deal was struck. By continuing to keep its mind shredding psyche in abeyance Ashatair would teach the sword about the world and the world about the sword. Unfortunately the swords tainted evil seems to be incapable of holding itself back despite itself. Though Ashatair was never a particularly kind man he always strictly adhered to his own moral code and he has constantly passed over the line of his self-induced code of conduct since coming into conduct with the blade. Those few who have had the chance to travel with him as a companion all agree it will only be a matter of time before the sword claims his mind just as it did all of those who had previously wielded the blade.
