| Chi is a source of energy that can only be used by those who are in tune with nature. Instead of trying to fight against the 'flow' of nature, one harmonizes with it, using its power as their own. As an analogy, if you were the size of an ant and dropped in a pond. You want to try to reach shore. However, the ripples all around make it difficult to swim straight. Chi would be knowing which way the ripples are flowing, and to ride them from one to another to get to shore, rather than trying to force your way through. OF course, the real challenge is being able to know how the ripples will move, which is where one needs to be attuned with nature. The power produced from this is not so great as to be directly harmful, such as using it to create a fireball, or mimic such other highly destructive magic. | |

| Right, drawing power from the world instead of from yourself, less limiting but much lower gain(as in you never run out but it can't fuel anything that needs huge amounts of energy per second like mana can)
Which allows us to work in Druids without them relying on mana and also explains why dyso's runes require many many more runes but are able to affect the world in a much more fundamental way.
I give tentative approval just because it's useful. I'm sure restrictions on how it can be used will have to be placed but for now it seems good...
Though I question how Dyso an emotionless, seemingly anti-empath can be in tune with nature...

| I think the limit he placed on it right now is fine enough.
Are there any times when energy can't be drawn?
If the land is corrupted (Burial site of a Death God, or other influence), then it's probably harder or impossible to draw power (Would provide a good reason why druids don't like it). Or, perhaps they draw in the corrupted power while corrupting themselves... shattered mentalities, chance of possession/control by a Death God... etc.

| When I say "nature", I mean more like the Tao, not environment, exactly. Death gods or toxic gas, nature would be the same there as anywhere else. | |

| No Xootie, the ability to interact with nature would not stop the Kangaroos from attempting to flee. | |

| I thought nature implied interaction of living things and elements. The corruption would change how they interect drastically than the vast majority of the world outside of the corruption. | |

| Yes, living things play a role, but so do dead things, undead things, anti-living things(or whatever we're calling them), inanimate things... pretty much the way everything interacts. | |

| In case you all have forgotten, I am the eastern influence on this otherwise western forum. The name is not changing. | |

| I don't know that this forum is as western as you think. I mean look at all the anime people running about. If it is going to be called Chi (really depends on what the council says) then I think the wording needs to be changed so that it doesn't sound nearly so druidic. | |

| How does Chi sound druidic at all? Druids are trees and plants and stuff right? Chi does not focus on those things. | |

| Chi doesn't sound druidic and I apologize if my impression was wrong but I got a definite druid-in-tune-with-nature vibe and Chi doesn't sound like a good name for their powers. As it appears my impression was incorrect, I really have no problem with the name Chi, and I already liked the science behind it. | |

| On a definite verdict... I think it would be fine for the arena way of things, but for RoKK in general... it may be practiced by people in a faraway land (as a different way of /using/ magic), but by and large most peoples and nations would rely either on cold, hard steel or the powers of the mages. There will of course be areas outside of that influence. Plenty in fact. But for the moment we're concentrating on the smaller region of Aran'iel on Kar'Kaish, which is largely comprised of emerging feudal kingdoms and a disintegrating empire.
This wouldn't be too important in the lore, in other words.

| I side with Aerywyn's judgement. If we feel Chi has a more prominent place in the world to be directly integrated with it, then we will notify you of the usage in the lore. | |

| Translation: Dyso can use it because he's from elsewhere. No one originating from Ara'niel can use it and it has no place in history of Ara'niel nor the Lore except perhaps as a curiosity. Following these guide lines: Approved. | |
